Just curious. What wet signature was required for your renewal and do you mean a scan of a signature done with a pen or do you mean they require the actual physical paper you touched with a pen? I don't think my renewal required any submission of anything physical until the actual pick up appointment.

I also asked if scheduling an appointment suggested my application for renewal was approved. She said, No, all it means is that the decision will be made before the 24th. To me, that is good and bad, but I like that they schedule the appointment ASAP and then hope things work out.

So, for me, 2 weeks with no CCW. THAT will not be too bad to quarantine inside for...

Edited to add: Permittium still shows the application is awaiting being assigned to a processor...
That's not too bad; looks like the caught up on the backlog.

On approval, in my case, I got an email and text two days prior to my appointment indicated that I was approved.

On the email it stated to contact License Division to arrange a pick-up appointment but when I called the number, the clerk stated it was the same day of my original appointment.

I used the same GC for my renewal.

You are correct, the online application did not require the wet signature copy to upload, but I had no cert at all to upload. The issue was the training company I qualified with did not have the certs available the day I qualified. They told me San Diego required the wet signature on the day you have your appointment, I qualified on a Saturday and they would be mailing the certificate to me on Monday. The cert did not end up being mailed until a week and a half later and then took three additional days to arrive putting me 2 weeks behind.

The way they explained it to me was that your spot in the renewal queue was determined by when your renewal application was filed, so the timing of your training would not make a difference. It was unclear if the renewal queue has any kind of priority over new applications, although it would make sense if it did.

While Covid has slowed down the pickup process, there is a nevertheless an obvious and fundamental problem that I think they have yet to understand and grapple with: As the number of outstanding permits grows, if they do not continually improve their throughput capacity, renewals will eventually consume all available processing capacity until either no new permits can be issued, or all permits expire for increasing periods before they are renewed. It's simple math.

I guess I still don't understand, whose wet signature on what document on the day of your appointment?

I would certainly concur with your idea that the original good cause should work if there were no substantive changes. For my renewal good cause statement, I copy and pasted in the original and also added updates that I believe show an even gooder cause.

But if that is true, one would think renewals would be pretty easy to process and they could do dozens a day.

All of which makes me believe there is something else in play...

What is considered "Good Cause" for San Diego

I am finally applying for my CCW for San Diego. I have one through Arizona. I was just wondering what I need to put down for "good cause?"

The biggest reason for my application is just for overall personal protection. However, occasionally I do get large cash sums that I need to take to the bank - not as much as I used to. Also, given my business is aviation related some of my customers are in the "import" business that is not actually above board if you get my meaning.

Take a look at San Diego Gun Owners website. There are some ideas for GC and help on how to word it.

Attend one of the San Diego County Gun Owners Association's CCW meetings. They can help with drafting a good cause statement based on your situation.

Just for clarification, are you saying that these were all successful under Gore in San Diego?
