200$ member fee increase

Since we’re throwing out ideas here’s mine:

Re-write the club by-laws and double the membership prices. Half goes to the club for their specific events, half goes to USI to help mitigate losses. I know the WC club membership renewal is $25; I have no problem doubling it to $50 if it helps. (Even $50 / $50 wouldn’t bother me; it’s 2024 inflation is real)

Temporarily stop the club member discounts for both shotgun, and rifle / pistol. As others have said; if the range is hemorrhaging money no one should get a discount. We all lose if this range closes, so we all need chip in. Revisit the funds in 3mths, 6mths, and 9mths to determine when / if club members can resume discount rates. Transparency is key; make sure club members can see their dollars are working to help save their range.

I won’t get into $1 beers, or payroll, since I don’t know the specifics when it comes to contract or requirements. Been shooting here since I was a little kid, and in my 30’s; I’d hate to lose this range and the memories.

Eric Jewel was a volunteer who ran the 5 stand at Usi. Large following of sporting clay guys did lots of shooting on weekends. (20 tokens + per day) . Nice guy did all the work, handled the whole thing. Upi president canned him so his crew moved to the wobbles field and made major improvements. Usi president again starts trouble with Eric and bans him from property.
None of those 10 trap shooters have come back.
High volume shooters are driven away by poor management.

Bring back Eric and the boys and give Peter the boot

Anyone got an update from the DRGC meeting last week?

- the Presidents of the gun clubs approved the increase at the USI board level

- check the USI website for amounts of increase and time frames to be allowed to purchase "the card" ( I believe you have until 7/11.)

- USI currently losing about $35,000 - $45,000 per month.

- there is a strategy group that has been constituted by the USI board to review income/expense and make recommendations to the board. No time frame given for this or justification for why the fees were raised in advance of receipt or action on recommendations.

- there is a USI board meeting this coming Monday.

- a question was asked from the floor about how many had already paid or would pay the increase fee - only a few hands. One of the DRGC board members recommended paying the fee with his "board member hat on" but acknowledged as an individual that there were concerns about this.

- it was mentioned in a conversation after the meeting that range use / participation has been down post notice of the increase.

Other than the last one... (wasn't part of that convo) This is factual and accurate. Thanks for being there and hope to see (hear) of you at the next meeting. Its elections and we are gonna have some catered food and hear more members input and of course to vote for the next Officer and Board Members.

$7 doesn't even pay for the staff member, let alone everything that goes into that round of shooting. I am just trying to find ways the range is losing money...
