Hi. I found this site by trying to research the Pasadena rifle range in Eaton Canyon.
I basically grew up on this range. My father, Glenn Benefield, was the range master on the public side during the 60's & 70s. He would bring my brother and I to work with him almost every school holiday. Great Dad!!
He would buy us a box of bullets and let us shoot when the range was slow. Both my brother and I were pretty good marksmen by the time we were 10.
When we got bored, we would roam the civil defense, garden up on the hill, and visit with Jack Preston who was the range master on the police range side.
Stories he tells about the range is endless. From the time a woman pointed her handgun at him, repeatedly pulling the trigger, "Its jammed! I keep pulling the trigger, but it won't shoot!!" to the time the Canyon flooded and he spent weeks shoveling mud out of the tunnels...
Does anyone else have memories of this range?
