Hello, and a question

Hi,

I no longer live in California - we moved to Texas eight years or so ago.

However - I read about the bills passing the Senate today. I'm not affected by the laws in California in my day to day life any more (and I have some nice firearms to show for it ...), but things like classifying a 10/22 as an "assault weapon" just seem so ridiculous to me - and that's on top of the laws that were in effect when I lived in California, which *also* seemed ridiculous to me - and I still have family/etc in California that we come visit.

What are the best California organization(s) to throw a few dollars at, to help fight these new bills? (I'm a member of several national guns rights organizations already, I'd like to allocate a little bit of my cash - nothing major - directly to a good California organization on this)

In the last 10+ years Calguns.net has grown from being just a fun place to discuss firearms to becoming a grassroots community dedicated to changing the California political landscape. We are now approaching 150,000 members strong and have over 10 million posts!

When we reached the landmark number of 50,000 members we decided to introduce a new program called CGN Contributors. Over the course of the last two years the proceeds from the CGN Contributorships have been used to fund and expand the community outreach programs and grassroots 2nd Amendment activities of the Calguns C3 chapters and volunteers. In order to better support and protect the volunteers and the community the Calguns C3 has been formally incorporated and filed with the IRS as a 501(c)4 non-profit, The Calguns Shooting Sports Association or CGSSA. CGSSA is all volunteer from the President down to the guy helping to pick up trash at a BLM range (often times they are the same person!) and both positions are equally important. This means ALL of the funds from Contributorships will go to events for the community, shooting outreach such as Women on Target, community service efforts such as range clean ups on public land and of course grassroots 2nd Amendment political efforts.
Keeping true to our roots that CGN will always be free, if you choose not to become a Contributor you will enjoy the same access to Calguns.net as you always have.

Contributors receive the following:

1. Unlimited PMs. Never delete anything again.
2. Access to the Contributor's Lounge, a private place to discuss issues that are not indexed by search engines.
3. A cool new color for your username, recognition in your user title as a CGN/CGSSA Contributor and the ability to choose custom user titles.

Subscriptions are priced at $19 semiannually, $29 annually, or $299 for a Lifetime. Contributors enjoy no special privileges other than those listed above and are subject to the exact same rules and regulations as any member including temporary and permanent bans with no refunds.

Once again, Calguns and it's content will always be free. This is simply a way for those who enjoy the forum and want to help CGSSA's efforts by and for your community. We will be using these funds to fund the Community Outreach and 2nd Amendment Grassroots efforts of the Calguns Shooting Sports Association

Please note that CGN and CGSSA are separate from CGF and that CGN/CGSSA Contributorships are not tax-deductible.


You will be seeing CGN and CGSSA continue to grow in the years to come, but we will never forget our roots. This is my promise to you.
