Hi everyone, just replaced my furnace the other day and after the HVAC guys left my wife went to run some laundry. well she came upstairs with a gun she found in the wall! it is a Ruger 10/22 LR carbine seriel number 113-13516 if anyone has any info on this guns age i would appreciate it. I did a Google search it looks like it might be a Sportsman model, it does not have the magazine ejector lever on it.

Hi Joe, welcome to Calguns. The older 10/22s were more of a push button magazine release than a lever. Do you own or rent? It was probably left by a prior occupant who may have misplaced it and then mistakenly reported it as stolen so the serial number could come back as stolen.

You might try to contact the prior occupants to see if any were missing a rifle, if they aren't then I would call the local police and turn it over to them. Ruger 10/22s sell for under $300, legal bills that might result from any misunderstandings later could dwarf that amount.

You might get lucky and a prior resident might tell you that they did lose it but don't want it anymore and would be willing to meet you at a local gun store to do a private party transfer. Good luck.
