    Hello Everyone

I recently discovered my love for guns a few months ago. I have been looking around the site for a while and just wanted to say hi!
I am also looking to purchase my first handgun and 1911's really caught my attention.
Im on a budget (I must feed my motorcycle trackday addiction) and have seen many beauties online for really good prices but my dreams are quickly shattered when I look on the DOJ site
If anybody can direct me to a shop in the Bay Area where I can get a good deal on a 1911 I would really appreciate it

Welcome. Your best bet would be a Rock Island 1911. East Bay Area pricing starts around $450. Check out the classified section or Reeds in San Jose. They have a nice selection of handguns but unsure of current pricing since I haven't been there in awhile.

Welcome to the forums. What do you ride on trackday?, I up to recently had a Daytona 675 that I loved to get knee dragging on, but alas I have a 09 Concours 14 now somewhat more civilized (kind of)

Hi, I'm Dean and I'm a racing-junkie (former AFM racer). Budget got in the way, stopped racing and track days. Time and budget now allow a little more fun, and guns have filled some of the gaps. Still do miss the rush of Turn 1 sometimes though, *sigh*.
CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.

Hey everyone thanks for the welcomes, I ended up purchasing a Savage Edge .223 from Big 5 instead of the 1911 seems like I might have a little more fun with it thanks for the advice though!

Dave, I ride my 2003 GSXR 600 I just recently started doing trackdays again after a 4 year break from riding.. Those Daytona's are sweet bikes I have seen many at the track and I have always wanted to try one out.

Hi Dean, Im sorry to hear about that, being unemployed I will only be able to afford 1 or 2 trackdays this year I feel your pain.
