You should at least put your hands on a Buckmark.

There is a Calguns monthly shoot at Insight range in Cerritos.
Lots of guys attend and would share.
They also have a good rental selection.

Ya I've read about the ammo issue. That's my only hesitation about the gun. I'll have to check out the Buckmark.

I'll have to try and make one of these monthly shootings. Sounds like a good time!

I found this site after a Google search landed me on that depressing CA semi ban flowchart.

I'm a resident of Utah now but I visit your state once or twice each year. I would also like to follow AB 1673 or any other firearm legislation coming out of Sacramento and this seems like a great place for that. If out-of-staters aren't allowed here I certainly understand.

Hi all, new guy here from north Orange County. Just picked up my first gun last week, the 12 gauge Mossberg 500 field/security combo with the Realtree camo. Next on the list is a shotgun for my wife (she really wants pink camo), either a Ruger GP100 or S&W 686 in .357 mag, and a Remington 783, likely in .308.
