I hope I am posting this in the right place. I am new to calguns, but a long-time gun owner in CA. About 20 years ago I stopped buying guns, and didn't pay much attention to new gun laws, with the exception of being scared into registering my Bushmaster AR and Bulgarian Arsenal AK as assault weapons before the deadline to do so. Now I have learned that the installation of a bullet button device would have exempted me from that requirement, though the option didn't exist at the time. Too late now - installing such a device and having the guns unregistered so I can sell the AK in California may be possible, but very unlikely based on a conversation I had when calling the DOJ. It became very clear that removing guns from registration is very low priority and counter to their goals. Another discovery I made was that, at least so far, I am prevented from buying two pistols I want, Glock 4th Gen and Walther PPQ, because they aren't on the approved list. I won't bore you all with the usual lamentations about CA politics and the success the anti-gunners have had, just wanted to check in and "register" my dismay in my new discoveries. I was happier a few weeks ago, before my son got me re-interested in guns. Ignorance sometimes really is bliss!
For some unknown reason last January 2015, I clipped a coupon for the Costa Mesa gun show and stuck it in my wallet. Then my son, out-of-the-blue, mentions the gun show and I tell him about the coupon. We went to the gun show. It was my intent on rejoining the NRA, but didn't see their booth so I joined CRPA. Since then I have volunteered at the CRPA booth recruiting new members and I have also become an NRA Life Member.
I've also bought several guns while they're available since I've come out of my hiatus. My recent favorite purchase is a P226 MK25 (non-roster). I recently purchased a Ruger Precision Rifle in 308. Just waiting to pick it up.
Anyway, It's good to be back in the game. I recently heard Chris Cox, NRA-ILA's Executive Director say that all funds from Californians to the NRA ILA will stay in California. The fight is on!sigpicComment

Welcome. If you'e not already an NRA member, please consider joining. The NRA is raising it's membership dues, but is extending the current rates for another five days.
When you join the NRA you get a choice of one of three magazines. American Hunter, American Rifleman, and America's First Freedom. You also get insurance.
When I first joined the NRA I selected American Rifleman, but now I read America's First Freedom because it's more about the legislation, policy, and Second Amendment issues.
Also consider the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA). CRPA has been around for 141 years and is affiliated with the NRA. CRPA works to promote and protect your Second Amendment rights in California.
If you are ever at the Costa Mesa gun show, stop by the CRPA booth and have a chat with us. I usually volunteer one day of the weekend at the CRPA booth.
Regards,

Some think the P22 is picky with ammo .
You should at least put your hands on a Buckmark.
There is a Calguns monthly shoot at Insight range in Cerritos.
Lots of guys attend and would share.
They also have a good rental selection.Last edited by Garv; 03-08-2016, 8:56 PM.Originally posted by Kestryll:
