    Finally starting my collection!

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this forum for a few years now. I currently live in Montebello (just east of LA, between the 710 and 605). I finished school (UCLA) at the beginning of this year and now have a job to support my hobbies.. so I started my firearm collection with a stainless Ruger 10/22 which I picked up yesterday.

Next on the list is a Remington 870 with loads of tactical accessories (I already started collecting parts; waiting for a good deal on the shotgun itself), a Springfield XD .45 (probably in February), and I'm planning out a build for my dream gun, an M1A/M14 with a JAE-100 stock.

Welcome to the forum. A great paying job and "Black Rifle Disease" is a bad combination. Get a big safe.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase and future purchases as well. Sounds like you know what you want, and are not afraid of feeding your addiction Like I tell my family with my addictions, "Hey it's better then drugs!" lol

Thanks for the welcome(s). I hope to see some of you out at the range.

I spent the day at Angeles Shooting Ranges figuring out how to clear jams... and in doing so, decided I should never buy blunt-nosed target rounds for my 10/22 - without the long pointy bullet to guide it into the chamber, the round tends to get cocked sideways and jams up the bolt. Had about a 50% success rate. I'll save my remaining rounds for a bolt action .22 if I ever get one. I trusted the guy at Turner's when he said they'd be ok (it was all they had left in stock). Going to Big-5 tomorrow to buy a brick of Winchester .22LR hollow-points.. I got a few from someone else at the range and they cycled just fine.

Welcome! You are about to get infected with a disease known as, "I must purchase all guns I can, while I can" syndrome. J/K

Congrats. Good start to your collection.

10/22, 870 & M1A are all good rifles to have in your collection. Depending on what AWB comes down the line you might also look at a mini-14, and AR-15.

In my first year of collection I was a member of the gun a month club. It's an addicting hobby...wait until you shoot a few thousand rounds and begin reloading.

Now you need to look at a revolver and semi auto pistol. I'd look into a S&W or Ruger in .357 and either a Glock in 9mm or a 1911 in .45.

Good luck and Welcome to Cal Guns.
