    "Like" button for posts

Can Calguns get this option or is it too much to ask for? Almost every other forum I've been on has a "Like" button for each post. Instead of dozens of "+1" or "^^^^ this" type of comments. It could potentially clean up threads by eliminating these unneeded posts and would make future reading of threads easier. Anyone else like to see this added?

It's sort of there in the "Rating", but that seems to be an average of the few people who even know it exists .. although I think Rating doesn't show up in some sub-forums.

But I definitely agree .. there's a lot of useless posts that I'd rather just see a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Only thing is the rating is for the entire thread and I agree that no one really ever uses it. I'm looking for more of a specific way of acknowledging a single post in a thread.

Yep, giving up/down, with a counter, to each individual post would be far better.

I'd really like knowing that 8 people gave my response a thumbs up and 8,000 gave the the thumbs down. Would mean I seriously have to reconsider my thought process.

I think once you go down the social media road, there's no going back. next thing you know we'll have follower buttons and people will be poking each other.

Social media doesn't have a hate button. I hate that.

This is already a "social media". But this is not for profit, so it won't go that far.
I like having to acknowledge the post as being positive or negative without cluttering the thread with a one line post.

LOL this forum and others like it IS the original social media.

There is literally NO difference in the purpose, intent and usage. We posts pictures, make comments, tell people what we're doing, visit sections that interests us, communicate directly with friends, have friends lists, get in arguments, say dumb***** stuff, ask questions and give opinions.

This social media allows people to visit our profile and see summaries of everything we've done, allows us to see who's online, search for users, it displays advertising, allows businesses to post things for us to see, it tracks our activity, summarizes our activity, classifies us according to how active we are and displays all that to the public.

Can't believe all the people ragging on 'social media' then using forums. And just because one digital feature is very popular on one social media doesn't make it silly to consider for this social media.

FWIW, I agree. I frequent one forum where there is a like button, and it serves the purpose you describe very well. Sure, there are folks who still "+1" and such, but that is usually followed by some type of comment. There are times when I agree or like a post, but I don't have a useful comment to add to the conversation. When that happens, I just hit the "like" button. Unlike Facebook where some message is cast amongst friends that I "liked" a post, there is simply an indicator within the post itself.

I need the positive reinforcement,I didn't get enough as I was growing up. A like would make me feel worthy.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.
