Philippine Typhoon

Fellow Calgunners, as we all know from the news, the Philippines was hit with the strongest typhon ever recorded in the world. I have seen the devastation and it is very depressing. You can type typhoon "Yolanda" or Haiyan and see the devastation yourself on youtube.

I'm just asking that if you can, please donate any amount you can to the American Red Cross "Typhoon Appeal".

I have not asked anyone for help of this sort before. Seeing the devastation, I took the initiative to post this on here and see if I could just spread the word. Yesterday, I saw a gentleman on the road with a sign asking people to help out. This is the least I could do to help out.

To the OP: I felt the same way - I didn't know how to ask for help for the victims. I am glad that you posted this. At the end of the day, you will never know if you do not ask.

To those who are planning to contribute, donating through the Red Cross is the best way to ensure that the much needed help reaches the victims.

I just donated via thier website using PayPal, which was very easy. PayPal does the currency conversion. I gave 4000 Philippine pesos, which is about $100.

I'm not sure about Philippine Red Cross (US red cross takes alot out of your donation) but I know that donating through TZU CHI Foundation, almost 100% of the donations goes straight to the victims.

BTW, my wife is Filipino and I met her in the Philippines. All of her family is still living there but they are in an different area and have not been affected by this tragedy. Anyways, we wanted to thank everyone who is donating.
