It will pass, they own the super majority in this state. I worried this might happen, but again it’s time to get as loud as possible. When I heard about New York's bill I knew it would only be a matter of time before we saw something here in CA. Before all this went down I was in the process of getting my FFL, but in dealing with the firearms community and saying that I was from CA it was funny to see how many companies just wouldn’t deal with me. Now with demand being at an all-time high and this bill coming out, the democrats are making it as tough as possible to own and operate a firearm related business in California along with making it much harder and more expensive to sell into California. The end result we will pay more for what we enjoy and be limited to what we are allowed to own.

Why can’t we get a Federal Law that will trump local and state laws? Something similar to what we are seeing with Arizona with illegal immigration or Oregon, Colorado, and California with marijuana laws where the Fed comes in and regulates anyways. A Federal law that would take precedence over everything else and set the boundaries for our 2nd amendment rights, one that would be the same across all 50 states? I am allowed free speech in all 50 states, there aren’t certain words that I can’t say in California or New York but yet I am speaking to a group of people that are like me and understand why I bang my head into the wall when I read this!

We know pretty much that some version of this will pass. Maybe not all, but enough. Why? They certainly know that it will do nothing. They certainly know that not one of us will ever turn anything in.

They know it will make our lives a living f***ing hell. we will no longer go to ranges with the guns. This will force ranges to inspect everything and hold them responsible for not doing so.

We will have no places to shoot. We will have an impossible time getting ammo, going shooting, etc. They won't even need to confiscate. They will turn pretty much everything we have into safe queens. Then of course gun shops will dry up. Eventually we will all age. We will remain but what of younger generations.

They do know what they're doing. I am a teacher, and I can relate in a sort of sense. I don't do this, but alot of teachers will. They will make an "example" of one student, refer them, suspend them, etc., as a warning to the rest of the students. In others words, "BEHAVE". They get the message. Again, I do not do this. But this is what the state will do. They will arrest someone and ruin their life. We'll get the hint.

These people are fascists. Are they evil? Yes. Are they stupid? No. do not ever underestimate them.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

There were people here in NY state that didn't believe these bastards running this state would get this crazy law here passed, and by means that were against NY state's constitutional procedures, but liberals have no sense of shame, and will attack and attack. They are always on the offense and continually plotting.

I dont even know where to begin...Words cant describe the hatred I have for this damn state government.A few folks have mentioned that it will,or most of it will pass,I have to agree with them on this. The dems control everything here in california, and since they are the ones out in force trying to destroy our second ammendment rights, they will get whatever they want.

I sure hope I am wrong, but its not looking good.I will remain positive in the hopes that these proposals arent adopted, but most of us can see the writing on the wall.

So no detachable magazines period, rifle or handgun. This is going to be interesting. Maybe we can get the NRA or GOA to sue California in court once it passes?

My question is how can owning a legal AR/AK now with a bullet button, then become a felony if this crap passes? You can't just ask us to turn in a legal product that people spent lets say $2000.00 bucks on and not provide compensation to say the least.

This idiotic stuff needs to be challenged in the courts by a class action law suit by all CA gun owners.

Still trying to wrap my head around the bullet button makes it an automatic weapon?

              Am I missing something?

First post here, but I guess this is a good place to start.

Regardless of how you feel about "if" this legislation will pass, you need to communicate with your elected officials. Sure, your single email may fall on deaf ears, but things happen when our representatives inboxes are overflowing with new concerned citizens' emails. It takes hardly any effort to do this, it will take much more effort to register your firearms, dispose of your legal high capacity magazines, jump through hoops to purchase ammunition, etc. Negativity and speculation is a deterrent to some people who would ordinarily jump into action for something like this.
You can move away, or curse California but thats the easy way out. This new desire to disarm Americans and uproot the Constitution will eventually catch up with you if you don't start fighting back now.

Have any of you tried to see a Senator or Congressman, especially ours from CA? Our emails don't mean a thing, I am sorry to say. We have 2 bookyaks for senators that have their own agenda and what we say means nothing. You guys need to get a grip on reality.

Thanks Keoni for enhacing my vocabulary.

Thanks to everyone who provided the text of their letters. I borrowed some bits and added my own. Here is what I sent to my Assembly Member Bob Wieckowski and State Senator Ellen Corbett (both Democrats :-( )

I am utterly shocked and dismayed at the proposition by Mr. Steinberg. The proposals he laid out this morning are a slap in the face to all law-abiding California gun owners and in direct violation of our Constitutional rights.

As a 60 year old law-abiding limited mobility woman, it disgusts me that your fellow California legislators would want to take away the right for me to protect myself from the evil in this world. As the saying goes "the police are minutes away when seconds count." How am I supposed to protect myself when the bad guys have weapons and I do not? I cannot run away. If I were the victim of a home invasion robbery the only chance I have of protecting myself is to have some sort of firearm to do so. I am confused and and dismayed at the proposals put forward by Steinberg, Feinstein, Yee and others.

I implore you to stand against these proposals and help to protect the rights guaranteed to Americans by the Constitution.

I try to write to one jerk or another every day. I'm sure most of you like myself, have an in-box full of these generic BS auto replies from the libs in Sacramento.

But they can have armed-to-the-teeth bodyguards. Somehow, that's okay.

Your points are valid, but we are fighting a concept that is contrary to what we believe. Did you read the book “The Communist”? Our current situation is much worse than anyone believes.
