Kes, I remember you posting about having two options and vBulletin kinda was giving you the run-around at first, being dodgy with your questions. Who was that other service you were looking into?

On a related note, this new server regular members such as myself are able to upload images. Before we had to link to an image hosting server. I dont think this is eating up usage, but could be a factor.

I don't understand all the technical mumbo jumbo but let me suggest the brilliant idea of reducing our total data traffic bandwidth gigabytes Dylithium crystals by everyone just reducing every word they type by one single letter. (*Example given in next paragraph.)

I'm in for the "long haul" so do what needs to be done. When I first started looking into firearm related forums on the Net, there were several that I joined or "guest" to see if it was geared to my needs. It didn't take long to realize Calguns.Net was and still is my "go to" site for various topics but especially laws, pending legislation, and of course humor.

I cannot leave out all the fine young men and women I have actually met in person due to this venue.

From an old curmudgeon, a sincere 'Thank you' for all the efforts all these years.

I'm not sure, but the RAM requirements for the new version of vBulletin we're using now, could be much larger than with the previous version. This may be worth looking into.....just a thought. Thank you for all the good work.

Does make one wonder if that is intended.....like a mini denial of service. Maybe more of the forum sections should require a login to view more than just the subject. I wouldn't want it to all go completely invisible because this is a very useful forum for anyone interested in learning.

What is the resource consumption associated with "guests"? Limiting access to nonmembers could be a short-term solution to the monthly cost issue.

I'm pretty sure that the three, four, five letter agencies and gun control groups actually sign up so they can bait people. As I recall, in the past some IP addresses traced back to the CA DOJ. Besides, it's fairly easy to obscure your identity. I think I used an osama.obama email when I signed up. I also wasn't born on 12/7/1941, but I clearly reside in Dumbfookistan and am FUBAR.

Have you checked out Cloudflare? CTH switched to them after getting deplatformed for their conservative political content and it works well with their 10 million or so unique monthly visits. Cloudflare supports vBulletin software though the subscriber will need to configure the administrator/server coding. There are support forums to assist. Good luck!

Cloudflare was in large part responsible for destroying Parler, they are not conservatives frends and I would not touch them with a 30 foot pole. Maybe see if Rumble offers the kind of hosting needed. I always gave Sundance credit for being smart. Looks like that may have been misplaced.
