    add US CCing Map

I've mentioned this before in threads, but thought I should make a specific thread re this here to get some traction.

Many CA Gunnies (not CGNers), don't even know that CA issues CCWs. Many are ignorant of how far out of the mainstream, non-progressive, and antiquated is our May Issue system vis-a-vis the Shall Issue (or better) system in 40 states.

I suggest adding a map -- either one CGN/F makes up or the NRA's -- that shows the current state of Carry laws throughout the nation and add it to our website (perhaps where CGN currently has "Brought to you today by:"). CGF could fit it in wherever they choose.

CC reform is the TOP priority of our movement in this state (at the moment), as seen in lawsuits and the Statutory Compliance and Sunshine Initiative. So, until we win this fight (w/in next two years), I request such a map be added here (and GotCarry.org).

Below is the NRA's map. Back when I was a founding member of CaliforniaCCW.org, I contacted the NRA to request permission to use it on that site. They said, sure, just as long as you don't modify it and give credit to the NRA. Unfortunately, the Admin there, at that time, was NOT as pro-NRA as he has since become and did not use it. IMO, the odds are if CGN/F makes such a request, the NRA will also give us the thumbs-up.

We'd want a smaller version, yet one where you can readily read the info re the status of various states re CCing. If we make our own, it doesn't have to have the 5 different colors for various laws' details, just 3: one for red and green in the NRA's map; one for Con Carry; and one for yellow and black (soon to be just IL), in the NRA's map. Actually, if you really wanted to simplify it, Con Carry could be added to the Shall Issue states since only VT is Con Carry but not Shall Issue, and you'd only need two colors: one for states that allow you to exercise your RKBA for SD and ones that do not.

You may be getting your wish. Some say because the anti Gov Doyle kept Wisconsin No Issue for so long this year they may go straight from No Issue to Con Carry w/o stopping at Shall Issue.

Con Carry is moving forward in the WY legislature as we speak.
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

If it passes in WY, I see Montana, Idaho, and Utah following soon thereafter. IIRC, there was a movement for it in TX too.

      But this is all OT . . . .

Never mind, I didn't read the thread, I just saw "map" and went off half-cocked. Disregard.

          1) Any reciprocity map would be far too complicated for a small map that could fit on the top our webpages.

          2) We're in a fight for CCWs right now. That's what the Statutory Compliance & Sunshine Initiative are all about. Reciprocity comes later and may be taken care of by federal legislation.

          3) The whole purpose of the map is to show antis and ignorant/newbie CA gunnies how common Shall Issue is around the nation, and thus how, because of the lack of CCWers going postal, the fears of "blood in the streets" are unfounded.
