The spam yesterday and today is ridiculous. Something must be done.

I suggest the first 5 postings by a new user are not visible until a mod releases them. If they are spam the message and user account can be deleted.

I agree. That is why I would rather be less accepting before hand. As I stated before, account validation first, then you can post to your liking.

And for those of you saying something about regulations and making jokes about restrictions, don't forget that this forum also has rules... and these are rules made by the people

I bet he is also the only person enforcing the rules.
Because, you know, he could foresee all sorts of situations. No site members ever affected rule making like this thread is trying to do... I am sure this is the first time.

The more hurdles you make, the better the spammers get. Then you need more security. I personally would rather just ignore the spammers than make the site so secure it's unusable.

Look at Australia's gun bans. It took the actual bad guys about 5 minutes to figure out that an incredibly reliable open bolt machine gun is easier and cheaper to manufacture than any standard gun. Now they have a problem.

Sometimes you need to determine 1st if what you think is a problem actually is a problem or just something you don't like.

...either a computer nor internet expert.

That said, I've been on Calguns.net since it started, as well as arf, the FAL Files, ihatemud.com (the arfcom of Land Cruisers) since 2009, and more than a few other forums.

This is the ONLY place that has, imo, a spam issue that's getting to be more of a PITA as time passes.

Is this something that calguns' web provider needs to fix, or maybe find a new provider?
