    New Public Image section

I understand that it's tough to manage this site and keep it clean - but after the most recent set of laws in California - things need to change.

To make a positive impact I think we as gun owners need to come together and have an understanding that debates how to get a better Public Image of the average gun owner.

I want to be able to pass down my guns to my children and the way things are heading...that isn't going to happen.

Thoughts on a Public Image section in the site? Somewhere where we can debate gun ownership public perception.

What's to debate? They are either with us or against us.

The debate is how to get those on the bubble with us. The media is against us - and that is all that is seen by those on the bubble...which is why we are losing.

People keep saying "THAT or THIS is what got us here or there."

The fact is problems are multitude, large in magnitude, societal and generational. No one THING brought us to this point. No one THING is going to get us on track.

ONE OF the bigger problems with propositions like this is short attention span. e.g. OP proposes this area, makes some points, catches some flak and disappears after a page or two. (Just an example not directed specifically at you OP)

Change is slow. The mechanisms are brutally boring. The work is exhausting. The rewards are minuscule. If you understand that and commit to pushing through, you MIGHT have a shot at success.

It's not about guns ... it's about following the constitution and established laws. That's the angle to take. Many I've 'debated' are clearly unable to comprehend the legal issues and are driven by reactionary emotionalism. Tough to get them to calm down enough and follow a logical argument.

Even those that claim to be in the "ban&confiscate" camp are loathe to admit the immense implications of such a thing.

Pretty much when the lights start going on as to how silly their position is they shut down and fall back to tired unsupportable positions and simply dig their heels in ... how does one deal with such immature and disingenuous folk? I certainly don't know how ...

For example my cousin countered with "screw your law" (see how he pesonalized it) and rambled on about laws banning weapons - I asked him who is going to enforce and defend such laws? He rightly claimed "all the way to the supreme court" at which point I went over some details in Heller and Miller decisions and he got very flustered and left ...

I suspect he would be perfectly happy with HRC packing the court (even bumping the number of justices to 11 like FDR) and having his puppet masters pulling their strings with whatever passes for "living document" interpretation twisted to fit their agenda.

How can anyone argue with people like that? Such opinions and theories are so completely counter to my understanding of the entire foundations of "We The People" as a system of government that I can't really begin to formulate a strategy to bring them around.

Tyrants, dictators, oppressors, controllers, regulators, enforcers, power-mongers, and more would love but for us to "change" to their liking.

Where have I heard that "Hope" and "Change" pitch before?

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

You know what is really funny? If we would just dispose of all or a good portion of those people that are against us, we could have an easier time getting our way without any lawyers needed...

And there lies the problem. With all of the bs going on in the world today the only way to get more folks on our side is to get more guns sold and then let all of those that bought the guns know that in order to keep them and continue having fun, they now gotta fight with us, but the problem is that this country is so divided and this state is seriously ****ed up to the point that it matters NOT the facts of the case, but how mr and mrs snowflake feel as they retreat to their safe space because of our triggering microaggression...

The problem now is that I see folks seem to just buy the guns and then remain silent and hope they can hide them until the day they really need them.

Makes no sense because I WANT A TAVOR and it looks like I won't be able to get one when I can finally afford it...

You want to start? FIRST we got to deal with the asshats in the govt. Get rid of enough of them By Any Means Necessary (see what I did there?) and then MAYBE we can change minds. Ahh what do I know? I am on the way to the reloading forum anyways...
