Could be from where they are sourced, mine comes from my photobucket account.

Unlike a signature image which can be linked to an external source, the avatar image is copied to the local server when you enter a URL for the avatar. Your avatar image is

I don't think the original source for the image matters. I think it just depends on whose got corrupt in the restore process and whose did not. The fact that some of us can't upload new ones could also have to do with the corruption; perhaps the security on the files was also corrupted, so now they can't be replaced when we try and upload new files.

Or perhaps the forum is now running with a different account context. It would be interesting to see if those of you without missing avatar images are able to update your image.

Its for sure related to the outage. I'm guessing that the full backup was updated at some point and contained all the old images. Then at some point, future incremental backups started getting corrupt. No testing meant the problem wasn't detected by the hosting company.

As to how to fix it? I think some people are on the right track with looking at folder permissions and file security settings. On Linux hosting, that is usually the problem.

Wish I flew a UH60 but I only fly GA - the vintage Army Wings were given to me by my Army Dad/'Nam Vet when I got my GA/PP wings And they're attached to a Maxpedition flight bag not a flight suit. I'd love to be paid to fly, but instead I pay to fly.
