I know the selection of styles ranges from blinding white to depths of the earth dark with little in between.
I am having a custom style made to look more like our old scheme, above is a sample I've been sent.
Let me know what you think.

i'm starting to like the dark mode but i like anything similar to the previous one. familiarity is always comforting.

It appears to take up some of the "wasted" space which if fine with me, which may cut some of the "whiteness". Thank you for all your efforts.

It's looking good so far. Does the style affect these settings?:

• Number of topics per page - It would be great to have this be user-configurable
• Shape of avatar (round/oval vs. rectangular) - I prefer rectangular
• A way to jump to a forum from the bottom of the page. The old site had a jump to... with a popup menu that was a quick way to return to the topics list after reading a thread
• A way to remove or shrink the Facebook and Twitter buttons on every post

Please make the forum look like the old forum instead of every other hobby forum out there.

When something is successful, there's little reason to change it... if it breaks, you fix it..

Considering that - vintage .net was successful... if you have the same look/feel with a 'fixed' version, there seems no reason you wont have similar success.

What I've seen in various personal and business situations is - IT people thinking 'users will get accustomed to the new version' and they expect the same results... then it fails, they scratch their heads, and keep throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks.... I'm not suggesting that's what's happening here - and I'm fully aware of the nuances involved to make due with what you're faced with... but getting as close to your previous success as possible, likely won't be a bad thing.

Making due with what exists - meh, it's par for course in 2024... we've all had to accept mediocrity as 'the new norm'... maybe CGN will lead the way to revived 'exceptionalism'... we'll see.

You have that option in your browser. Hold the control key and scroll up on your mouse wheel. You can also adjust zoom in your browser's menu.

The shape of the Avatar varies depending on the theme, so that is selectable by the admin.

The only other thing I would add is to increase the size of the default font to about 12 point. That includes the path at the top of the page which shows you where you are on the site. Otherwise, it looks great!

I'm really liking the dark (black/gray) mode; it's so much easier/softer on the eyes! I primarily use only my laptop, & never my phone, FWIW.
Thanks for all your hard work on this awesome upgrade, Kes, the wait has been well worth it, IMO!
