no,it's the LAW
part of having an FFL in CA is they must do PPT's
not they can do them on days they want or as fast or slow as they want.
$10 for 10 minutes work, drives customers into there store where you can sell them things like GUNs, AMMO, etc.....Comment

Like I said, I DROSd 4 guns on Sunday; had no issues. David was fine, gave good service. It took a while to do, but not because he was slow.. DROSing 4 guns just takes time. I was patient the entire time.
It was when I dared suggest they had possibly written the wrong serial # down for an old Colt revolver that they then said that they don't want to deal with me ever again.
When I called today, I was nothing but polite, and was just making an honest inquiry about the serial number to ensure it was correct. They were the ones who gut all wounded and injured because I wanted to confirm the serial number before I wasted 10 days waiting on a gun to be released that was never technically DROSd...
I'm a good customer to places who treat me well. I spend a ton of money at the Apple store in Temecula; they know me there by name. Yeah, I complain if something breaks, but I'm completely reasonable about things. If there's something wrong, I want it fixed.. I don't threaten, I don't yell, etc.. I just want to fix the issue and get on with my life (and buy more stuff).
In Turner's case, complaints, apparently, aren't taken well. Today's phone call with Larry was beyond rude. I was calm, polite and even slightly apologetic for wasting their time to double-check the serial number.
So, I guess Annie's Get Your Gun and The Shootist should be happy -- I'll be frequenting them a bit more often now than I have in the past...
Oh, and Turner's? I'll be happy to accept their heart-felt apology for the way they've treated me today. But, I suspect the odds of an apology happening are somewhere between 0 and none.

And, yes, the absolute first and only time I've done a PPT was Dec 30, 2012.
Anyways, like I said, I'm done in this thread. I'm getting attacked for demanding to be treated with respect by a business I was a paying customer at. So, yeah, if you guys are OK with doing business at a store that treats you poorly, keep doing business there. I wouldn't treat my clients like that, and I don't expect to be treated like that by others.sigpic

Thank you for posting this. You're absolutely right; PPT's are required by law. If we suddenly can't do PPT's because they don't make *enough* money on them, every one of our 2nd Amendment rights will be substantially limited.
Firearms dealers are required to conduct private party transfers pursuant to Penal Code section 12071(b)(5). Dealers may not limit the days or hours in which private party transfers are conducted.
To put this into perspective, that would be akin to the DMV not issuing you your drivers license renewal unless you *also* buy a new car from the clerk's brother-in-law. Want to buy a car from a private seller? Then, I guess no drivers license for you!sigpic

And if they spend too much time and effort on it to where they lose money they will simply raise prices elsewhere in order to stay afloat. That $21.99 box of bullets may become $22.99 so that the store makes the same profit in the long run. Don't think $10 for 10 minutes is enough to keep stores afloat necessarily. They are all different. If you did this full time and made $60/hr, then take out your expenses and taxes, you'd find you may wish to keep your day job."If Jesus had a gun he would be alive today"-Homer SimpsonComment
