    Consignment

So, I understand consignments to be similar to PPTs. Do you get taxed on a consignment purchase?

Not sure why you are asking in the Turners forum, but YES. However in my experience, consignment prices are negotiable. You may be able to haggle a price that effectively (if not technically) negates the tax effect.

Also, consignment prices usually factor in the possibility that a buyer will use a credit card, which adds 2-3% to the cost. If you offer cash, it makes it easier for them to lower the price when haggling.

I have bought my share of consignment guns and I have always gotten a better price than the asking price, paid cash, and the net effect was I didn’t care about paying tax after it was said and done. Negotiate an out the door cash price and let them figure out the rest.

This of course all depends on the store, the gun, the seller, etc. YMMV.

I'm asking in the Turner's thread because the consignment gun I'm looking at is being held at Turner's, so I wasn't sure if policies may be different elsewhere and just cut to the chase and asked here.

Sorry for the late reply. I gotta check my settings im not getting notified. We do charge tax on consignment purchases. Unfortunately we don't offer cash discounts as at our level the fees aren't an issue and doesn't matter if you use cash credit or first born
