So there is a recurring thread on Calguns, and Facebook, and Yelp, etc... complaining about the long wait times at RifleGear. A lot of these posts also offer suggestions on why we have the problem and how to correct it:
"It's because you are set up like the DMV with a take a number system"
"There are only like 2 guys working in the showroom at a time"
"You need to Hustle!"
"Some of the sales guys are not very friendly, like they just want to get to the next customer"
etc...
We understand the frustration and we hate the long wait times more than you do. We don't want to inconvenience our customers and we don't like to lose sales if someone leaves in frustration. With the current crush of SSE transactions, like the "AW ban" scares before it, it's just boils down to the large volume of customers and transactions we are processing. To put it into perspective, I will just apply some mathematics.
We have 8 sales people working every shift Mon-Friday, and up to 10 on the weekends. Not to mention that a lot of transactions could take even longer than 30 minutes and that our employees are not robots (we are LEGALLY required to give them lunch breaks and work breaks), and it should be fairly obvious that we are working as hard as we can here and there is no quick "fix". The situation should correct itself come January when the SSE crush is over.
Anyway, just thought I would put that info out there.

- In October 2014 RifleGear processed 1,600 DROSes, the most we have processed in a single month - ever.
- That's an average of 51 DROSes a day.
- Since we have 5 POS registers to process DROSes, that is 10.2 DROSes per register.
- Since it takes on average 30 minutes to complete a transaction involving a DROS, each register is busy for 5.1 hrs per day just performing DROS transactions.
- Since we are open for 8-9 hours per day, that leaves less than 4 hrs per day for those registers to perform ANY other transaction (parts sales, firearm signouts, gunsmith orders, etc...)
