    New SSE Email

    Hey Guys,

I ordered another gun from you today, but in addition to the usual 2 emails I get, I got a 3rd that required me to reply that I agree to some terms and conditions.

Due to limited time remaining to process single-shot exemption (SSE) transactions, RifleGear is now requiring immediate payment in full to purchase and hold any firearm(s) that require SSE. All such payments will be subject to a refund less a 15% fee if you do not DROS the specific firearm purchased by 12/15/14 and PICK UP the specific firearm purchased by 6:00PM (PST) on 12/31/14. DROS fees and SSE conversion fees are non-refundable. Any voluntary modifications or cancellations will also incur the 15% fee. No exceptions will be accommodated as we cannot legally deliver the SSE firearm to you after the end of the year.

We are implementing this policy through the end of this year in the effort to ensure that all of our customers have fair access to firearms that are now in high demand and short supply. If you are not completely certain that you want to purchase this firearm, we encourage you to cancel this order
Usually, I sing your praises. I haven't used another FFL to purchase a gun in 7 years. But I don't understand the new policy (maybe I'm interpreting it wrong).

I've never handled an M&P 45c. I can't handle one in your store unless it's in SSE configuration, but if I don't like it when go to start my DROS then I'm stuck with it or I pay 85 dollars (15% of that gun).

I'm truly hoping that I misunderstand the new policy.

    Thanks,
    Nick

You can cancel the online order and just come by in person and check it out as we are now caught up on SSE kits and can make the conversion for you in the store. We basically added this policy as we had multiple customers that would reserve a gun online, sometimes for months (because they just DROSed another gun and was in 1 in 30, or was out of town, etc...), and would then change their mind or cancel the order. They were basically tying up this firearm without so much as a dollar deposit and then cancelling the order when we could have sold it to the next customer. Since we are getting down to the wire before SSE is gone, we wanted to make sure that every customer wants to complete the transaction and, if not, make the gun available for the next customer.

If you purchase a gun online and have it shipped to your local FFL then you really don't get to inspect the firearm prior to the CC charge either, and if you send it back (unless it was defective) you will most likely get hit with a restocking fee and return shipping charges. We think the new policy is pretty fair, and is only because of all the interest in SSE guns here at the end of the year. We are pretty much caught up on SSE kits so you will be coming in to start the DROS almost immediately anyway. Just come into the store to make the purchase if you are not sure you want the firearm.

    Regards,
    David

      David,

I honestly don't like this policy then. I've done 3 other SSE's with you this year, and have brought my father down for 3 1911's he wanted.

Every time it has been with the understanding that we order online, wait for our kit, then inspect the pistol to make sure its comfortable, it fits, and just feels right. Its even an assurance that your sales people had made when I first learned of your SSE process.

Coming down from Palmdale equates to at least 200 miles of driving to purchase anything, or double that for a fire arms purchase, but yet I've always patronized your store.

Comparing when I purchase a gun online (which I don't, I use your store exclusively) doesn't hold weight with me. I purchase in person because I believe that local support is important, and I also feel being able to touch before I buy is important.

I do understand that you've had people manipulate the system, or skip out on their purchases. That's really unfortunate, and I know that its bad business for you because you lose potential sales. I understand your point.

I guess my problem works out to the basic situation of "every gun I buy, I fully intend to enjoy," and I don't purchase when I'm in a hold for 1-in-30.

What happens when I go to start paperwork on my next gun and it doesn't fit my hand, or I'd rather go with a Glock than the S&W because it feels better.
