    Out of state transfer

    hello Rifle gear friends,

I was just wondering what it would cost to transfer a gun from out of state.
If my brother in-law wanted to sell me his old AR 15 of give me a lower as a gift.
what would that run me? A local shop told me they charge $25 for the DROS and $95 for the transfer from out of state.
Does the lower need to be cali compliant or can I put a bullet button on after as long as I do not build a working firearm before the BB is on?

Thanks for any help and info.

    doh!

OK so I read the sticky on transfer fees, but it didn't really answer the question of how much for a private party transfer from out of state.

I also read a second ago that a guy wanted a specific model gun but you stated you didn't carry it but would order it for the customer if he really wanted one.

I am looking for a New frontier armory LW15 polymer AR-15 complete Lower
Do you guys carry them or perhaps order one?

    Thanks for any help/info

As far as California is concerned, a "Private Party Transfer" happens with both the seller and buyer are present at the FFL to sign the paperwork and submit thumbprints. If the firearm is shipped in and only the buyer is present, it is considered a dealer transfer. The fee for a PPT is $10 + $25 DROS, our fee for a dealer transfer is $75 + $25 DROS.

A stripped or complete AR lower will not need a BB at the time of transfer, but it will need one installed or be modified to be a featureless rifle before you attach a semi-auto, centerfire upper to it. Also, it must be an "off list" brand or else it is an AW as well.

We do special orders all the time, just give us the exact model info and we will look it up for you. Yes, we have the New Frontier polymer lowers in stock right now.

        Awesome

Hey thanks for the info Sharky, At this point it may be cheaper for me to buy the New frontier lower here then try to get one from my brother in-laws friends.

Now I just need to see if any of the local shops have the NFA lower in stock. If not then I may have to make a trip to Riflegear. At least it isn't more then 2 hours out.

        Thanks again for the info.

          DOH!

Oh no, I forgot to ask one more question. Do you guys carry the S&W M&P15 sport and how much does it run. If I can't get one close to Murrieta then that would definitely be worth driving out there for. I would prefer to get the Sport as opposed to building my own since it has warranties and stuff.

Thanks again for the help and info.

            Hello Cobra71,

We currently have the Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport in stock.
The cost is $659.00 and includes a bullet button, gun cable lock, and one 10-round magazine.
We also still have New Frontier Armory LW-15 lowers in stock at $109.00
The good thing is since you're looking to get both at the same time, you can run them on the same $25 DROS fee (and as many other "long guns" as you would like for that matter).

            Hope to see you soon.
            Thanks,
