Is it possible to remove a standard gas block and slap on a YHM flip as shown in the link below?

^ not answering for riflegear, but I did that exact thing with that exact part. As an extra step though, use thread locker, since it doesn't have the fix-pins anymore.

Yes, in most cases that's easy switch.
