Looking for value of Father's service pistol

1951 Colt Commander LW. Serial number indicates 1951 was the year it was manufactured. Since it was his duty pistol it's used and not a show boat. I'd go with average condition, blue worn thin, scratches etc. I want to give him a fair price for it. Thank for you help. Recommend a shop that can provide a fair valuation in Ventura County is OK by me.

Check GunBroker. You'll have to register and then in the advanced search tab click completed sales.

Don't sell it ... Imho of course. But I think you may find more joy in keeping a family heirloom.

Keep it. Have him intrafamifial to you and openly help help them with whatever you can. None of my former people would screw with that to many immediate issues now with the blm assault on the USA infrastructure.

This! From the wording of your post, I think you're going to buy it from your father which is a nice gesture. So I'm guessing it's staying in the family.

I'd love to have my great grandfathers service pistol but I'm sure it's long gone. He was a police chief out in Pennsylvania before the turn of the century and a town marshall after he came out to Southern California.
