Can I shoot while staying at a family-owned private cabin in Mt Laguna?

Is it legal to shoot in Mt Laguna (a few miles from the lodge + post office)? I'm staying up there in a private cabin for a few days over the holidays. I'd like to hunt some squirrels with either a .22 cal air rifle, or .22lr. Thanks!
    D'ya like dags?

As long as you have a hunting licence and season is open. Is squirrel open now in tht area? Remember ground squirrels have fleas with bubonic plague.

You may or may not be able to shoot there. There are certain areas of the county where it is permissible to shoot, and certain areas where it isn't. And trying to figure it out from the county web sites is darn near impossible. Your best bet is to go to the nearest Sheriff's substation and ask them.

You also have to check to make sure there are no fire danger warnings.

No, closed from Cal Fire drought conditions. Drive down the hill to Imperial County. No squirrels but plenty of rocks.

You cannot shoot in Mount Laguna. Hunting is bow only. They have a couple of rangers driving around all the time. My kids got stopped for shooting BB guns at my cabin.

That's really sad how things have changed. We use to be able to target shoot a couple miles down Kitchen Creek Rd. For a summer shooting camping weekend we would go up Sunrise Hwy. Hang a right on Kitchen Creek Rd and go down to Sheephead Mountain Rd. Turn right and go back in about 3 miles. Was a nice place to camp and shoot.

Kitchen Creek- I was there the last day it was open. Some idiot brought a full size console tv along with a bottle of Jack Daniels; I went down to the Cleveland N F office right by the freeway & turned the guy in for littering. It was ok on weekdays but dangerous as hell on weekends & any amount of people there.
