    Borrego Springs area

I've done some searching but can't seem to find current/recent information (unfortunately this is probably because it hasn't changed, but I'm going to ask anyway). Is there any public land that is open to shooting at this point within an hour or two drive of the Borrego Springs area? From everything I can find the BLM restrictions on target shooting are still in place, but curious if there might be anything else around.

Any public land will likely be BLM, and subject to whatever the current restrictions are.

I found a nice map with current fire restrictions here: http://www.arcgis.com/apps/View/inde...c3b9a8035c37fb

This map displays the real-time status of large wildfires over 100 acres and current fire restrictions within BLM District and Field Office boundaries. Click on an area of the map to see a pop-up box with additional information. On the map legend, characteristics will become visible as the map is zoomed in.Current Fire RestrictionsThe statewide, year-round fire restrictions remain in effect. Under this order, the public is required to follow these criteria before building, attending, maintaining, or using a campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove, outside of a developed campground:maintain a

Go East of Borrego a few miles and you hit Imperial county, no restrictions there.

SD county BLM land is closed until further notice. Imperial county is open all year long.

You could also come to a clean up and find new locations as well.

There's a spot at Ocotillo Wells, not too far from Borrego Springs.

The abandoned Salton Sea Naval Base has some nice shooting areas with distance and backstops. Access is primarily with 4 x 4. I have been going there for 20 years. PM me and I can give details .
