    Recommendation for gunsmith-Shotgun chamber/bore rust

    Hi all,
I am looking for a recommendation for a gunsmith. My mossburg 500 got a bit of rust in the chamber. Long story short, due to the massive rain and the crummy foundation of the house I rent in North Park moisture has been seeping up trough the floor and got into where I store some shotgun parts.

I got most of the rust out with just a bore brush and bore cleaner however there is still some rust and pitting. Was going to try the steel wool and a drill trick but wanted to also see if there is any recommendations for taking it to a gunsmith for honing

Check out evapo rust. Good stuff. Use 0000 bronze wool, not steel wool. After you remove rust, use a liquid blue to protect.

Do the steel wool and drill.
Most likely that is all a gunsmith will do. The gunsmith will charge you about what a new barrel costs anyway.

Toothpaste on the brush or steel wool is a good mild abrasive.

On the other thread a guy mentioned you could push some marijuana buds thru it and it would be good as new.
