Gaging interest on a private range in Elsinore..

My family owns some private property in Lake Elsinore. A ways back in the hills. We have a range already set up for pistols and rifles, with steel targets out to 1,000 yards. We were thinking about opening the range to a very few amount of people on Saturdays and Sundays. We were thinking about 3 hour blocks of about 10 people at $20/ea. We have several rifle shooting tables set up as well. We figure 10 people is a manageable number of people, and it won't be too crazy.

The only caveat is that you do need a truck with clearance to get here.. no cars will make the bumpy road.

Payment would be made via PayPal, and your name will be added to the list and time block of your choosing. This will also allow someone to setup a private or family/friends group of 10, for a private range session. Time blocks will most likely be 7-10. 10-1. And 1-4 for the time being.

Chime in on feedback, thoughts, suggestion etc.

    Thanks

Get good insurance, and then get more.

      Sounds like you'll need City/County businesses permit(s).

      Oh, get More Insurance.

Hope this works out for you.

Glad I'm not the only wet blanket here.

If you care about your financial security, I'd think very seriously about overloading on insurance, assuming that your provider will even cover your plans of charging people to use your property.

Don't get me wrong, I applaud your desire to help out the shooting community, but if something goes seriously wrong and there is an injury, or worse, you better CYA.

I too applaud your desire to help out the shooting community and would reiterate what has been said about insurance. Do you intend to have a family member present to act as an RSO at all times while people are there or is everyone on their own once they arrive. I would surmise the insurance company would want to know this.

Also, if you intend to have a RSO present, I would imagine one who is NRA certified would probably be better than having Uncle Joe do it (no offense if there is an Uncle Joe of course). That goes to CYA as mentioned by desertrider.

Good luck and please let us know if this turns out to be a reality.

In for a private party, What kind of back stop? How much movement available at the 10 and 20 yard marks from targets? Is the terrain pretty rocky or can some team movement be done? Waivers at the door etc.

That sounds great to me. I'm constantly amazed that there don't seem to be any ranges in the Elsinore/Murrieta/Temecula area.

Sounds pretty cool. I just detest having to pay to go to a range. The ammo is already expensive enough. How about 10$/ month? A monthly pass would cut out a lot of hassle with time slots and planning ahead.

Sounds like a cool idea. I would pay $20 to use the range. The posts in this thread warning about legal ramifications are certainly good points to consider though.
