    M1 Garand Ammo

I've been looking for non-magnetic 30-06 for the M1 Garand, but I haven't had any luck. Does anyone know where I can get a box or two in the OC area? I need it by next week, if I get it online it won't arrive in time.

I haven't seen it in a while. The Costa Mesa Gun Show is coming up next weekend and they usually have some.

Walmart on Technology. They have a bunch of Winchester boxes of 30-06.

Unless you have an adjustable gas plug, this is probably a no go.

Yeah don't use off the shelf stuff unless it says Garand on the box. Otherwise you will bend your op rod.

Locally you are probably SOL for Garand specific loads. Outside the CMP, your best source is the Prvi Partisan Garand specific ammo. I have only seen it online at Wideners, etc

I doubt if there is Garand appropriate ammo at Walmart. Please stop telling the OP to destroy his thousand dollar rifle.

We're telling him where non-magnetic 30-06 is available.
If he needs Garand specific loads, he should have clarified for the other 95% non-garand owners on this board that standard 30-06 does not work in a M1 garand.

If you were up in LA, I could help you out with a couple boxes of M2.

                      Garand Gear Ported Gas Plug

Buy this, install it, no more worrying about what ammo you use. I know the commercial loads are more expensive, but finding non-magnetic surplus isn't easy lately.

They are located in OC and I bet you could have it in a day so you can use commercial stuff. Cheap insurance for the Garand as far as I'm concerned.

If you decide to not get the ported gas plug:

Cabelas - American Eagle M1 Garand 30-06. On sale for $20.99/20

SG Ammo - 500 rounds of PPU M1 Garand 30-06 - $349.50 - Cabelas also has this, but is more expensive.

Don't worry about it. for some reason alarmism is popular among M1 owners. WWB 30-06 is fine for Garands.

google is your friend. Brownells sells this ammo and has specifically said it is suitable for this rifle.

Thank you for the replies. I'm looking for another 20 rounds to make my count 40, easier for dealing with the en-blocs. A good friend of mine is letting me use his Garand since my father's memorial is coming up. The M1 Garand was his favorite rifle when he was in the military, especially after his unit was issued M-16s. I want to pay tribute to him since it's his 10th year memorial.

Heading out to the range Thanksgiving weekend so online orders won't arrive in time. I may have to check out that Ammo Bros in Ontario.
