    Anaheim PD gun buyback 8/24/13

    All,
The city of Anaheim will be having a gun buyback day this weekend.
They are giving $100 for handguns and $200 for rifles, no iD required and no questions asked.
    The flyer states:
    The Need:
Too frequently, people fall victim to gun violence. Our investigations often reveal the guns used in these violent crimes come from burglaries where unse-cured guns are the target. Our hope is collect and dis-pose of unwanted guns, helping to make safer neighborhoods.

Not sure if there is any action that the CALGUN community wants to take. Forgive me if i have posted in the wrong place.

Hopefully some of us can save some from the bonfire.

I suspect that they have the dollar amounts mixed up, $200 should be for the handguns. Of course, if it is correct, I might need to dig out those old Stevens single shot .22's I've kept for the barrels....

I think all of our fantasies with these events is to show up and save a Colt Python for $110

Set up shop and offer cash payout for guns. You'll win

Anyone have any experience with buying guns off of people trying to participate I the gun buyback?

How to you make sure the gun hasn't been used in a crime?

Do the police hassle you about business permits in public?

Are there tons of hungry pro gun dudes waiting around and who gets first dibs on a rare item?

depending on where its held, if its private property they can ask you to leave.

ive always wanted to show up with a sign that says, your gun is worth more at a gun shop.

ive never seen any numbers on how many of these are stolen. e ive been told that the police are required to run the serials against a data base and return to owners if possible.

Looks like it is being held in a park. I would love to save some beautiful pieces but I don't want any trouble with the PoPo either.
