Like everyone else said, it's only illegal in the city of LA, and certain counties in CA, but not LA county itself. I think it's just the vendor that doesn't want to haggle to find out which cities he can and can't ship to in CA. I know Gander Mountain won't ship to CA at all, even though I just want projectiles, no actual live ammo, while Cabela's ship live ammo to me in Downey without a problem.

Correct. I have a friend with a "Los Angeles" return address who has had all kinds of issues getting ammo online.

I've never had an issue with any vendor (other than the bastards at Sportsmans Guide and CTD, obviously) delivering to any of the various addresses I've had in the Valley.

Man, it is really furstrating that this continues to be misunderstood. All you guys are doing is spreading FUD. Read the law or Mosin1944's post.

IT IS 100% LEGAL to have ammo shipped to addresses in the City of Los Angeles.

What you will find is vendors who don't know the law, or don't want the hassle. Their web sites are clearly marked with where they will not ship to, and that's fine - give someone else your money.

For future reference, here is a map of the City of Los Angeles.

It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Out of state vendors believe, falsely, that they are subject to that law. Thus the problem. Not to mention some vendors wanting to punish us here in CA.

I have bought thousands of rounds and I'm in Van Nuys. The same UPS driver always delivers my purchases and he says that he delivers lots of ammo locally.
Just an observation, Martin retting gun shop is in Culver City and they require your driver's licence for ammo purchases.
Even turner's (in torrance) does not do that. They are both in LA county and neither in the city of LA.

Turners in Reseda fingerprints you for all ammo purchases. I can't recall if they check the license or not. Guns Direct in Burbank fingerprints you, also.

Each city has their own laws. Culver City and Torrance are both separate cities.
