Calgunners,
This July 4th join me in honoring J.P. Blecksmith. This will be the 10th running of the memorial 5k in his honor in San Marino California.
2nd Lieutenant Blecksmith was killed in Fallujah, Iraq on November 11, 2004. J.P. was a local to the San Garbriel Valley and attended Flintridge Prep before going to the Naval Academy. He played football at both. Pasadena Calgunners may have seen the Marine Core center, Blecksmith Hall, in Pasadena next to the High School (PHS).
I am plugging this event as a friend of the Blecksmith family. Those of you that don't know the story can read up on J.P. here. http://www.jpblecksmith.org The Blecksmith's are a good family and deserve your support. J.P.'s father is also a Marine, Vietnam Veteran. His sister is one of my good friends. I posted this here because I believe this community would rise to the occasion and support this. Maybe after the run/walk we can get together for brews at a local pub, perhaps Lucky Baldwins? I'll buy the first round.
Kids are welcome for this event and many attend. Last year I even pushed my 2 kids in a double stroller for the whole 5k. I encourage all of you to attend to show support if you can. The course leads you through San Marino and is only as challenging as you want it to be. There are some slight hills. I plan to walk it again this year with my kids that are 1.5 and 6 years old.

Proceeds support the J.P. Blecksmith Leadership Foundation
