Springfield XD Mod. 2 .40SW

I'm in the market for a Mod. 2 in .40SW. Does anyone have a Springfield XD Mod. 2 in either caliber. I heard that it's illegal to purchase new in California but that you can purchase it used. Can an FFL obtain it new or used from out of state and then sell it to me?

As of the first of this year the only way you can get one is through a Private Party Transfer. Dealers can only sell them to law enforcement. Even if it's on consignment in a gun shop the dealer cannot transfer it to you, only PPT.
