I've never been there before I'm planning to go shoot tomorrow! Can anybody give me directions and information about the place. Is it a friendly place to shoot?? A lot of place police harassment?

Just an FYI, IIRC the area near hodge road is part of the Stoddard Valley OHV area, be sure to stay out of it if you're going to do any shooting. Granted, I've never encountered BLM or sheriff in the area, but that doesn't mean you should do something illegal.

This seems like the better link:
"Target shooting is allowed on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The legal target shooting area is the area north, northwest, or northeast of Barstow, taking into consideration any private land, posted signs, and other rules and regulations that would apply. It is the responsibility of the shooter to know the laws for the area where they are shooting."
It would appear that Hodge Road is OK if you're west of the 15, but not too far west. Click on the "shotguns only" link to see this map:

If your coming east from Victorville get off on Hodge rd and turn left if you wanna target shoot, turning right puts you in SV OHV area and that's a no go. Drive in well past the cell tower (I go 2.8 miles in) and pick a spot. Watch your background, don't shoot across roads and clean up after yourself so we can keep plinking there.

I like shooting here because it is near where I live and I can get some decent range for my long range rifles.
I know many of the blm rangers and chp officers personally that patrol that very area! The area west of the 15 frwy is privately owned land and can only ask people to leave if they get complaints from the land owner. As long as you clean up after yourself and aren't reckless you will be fine.
As a matter of fact, sometimes when I go out there some of my friends that are on duty (BLM & CHP) will actually stop and shoot along with us."...... to disarm the people - that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." - George Mason -Comment

My normal shooting spot is off stoddard wells but it's very far from anything. We shoot into the mountain side at all times and leave with more than we bring at all times, never been questioned out there.Originally posted by ar15barrelsSo you are throwing out 95% of reality to select the 5% of reality where you are actually right?
