You talking about the beach ranges at Fort Ord? The ones you could see from Highway 1?
There used to be a small building out there on the access road that led out to those dunes. It was a 50' indoor range. I spent many Saturdays and Sundays out there while in high school, shooting one of the club's .22 Anschutz rifles.Comment

Closed for the MotoGP. That's OK, I'll be at the races anyway.
Laguna Seca is a really nice range. That's where I usually go to shoot, especially for rifles.

What year for your Basic Training? That's where I took my Basic Training also, in January of 1969. Also with an M14 - damn thing sure got heavy running to the range & all. A lot of Fort Ord is torn down now - the Monterey Bay University used a lot of the property. My barracks is still standing tho. Pretty nolstagic going thru there.
BruceIt's not a World War until France surrenders.

Yup, doubletiming to the range was pure delight. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.Comment
