    Burro canyon-HELP!!!!

I need help with info about burro canyon. This is going to be my first time going there. It will be my girlfriend, my 4 year old son and myself. What can I take to shoot there? What can't I take? If you have pictures of stuff I can take that would be awesome! Thanks

Most of the information is available on their website.
If you were to wait until June 23 you could go out with the Cal Guns people from this very forum. That will be a private range, and a lot more family friendly than, perhaps, the general admission areas.
Look for the Los Angeles community forum for info on that. You will encounter a lot of helpful people that way.

Don't bring ammunition that attracts a magnet (unless its wet season, which it is not)
Don't bring target stands that have any metal
      Don't bring metal targets

Bring any legal firearms up to and including 50cal

Thanks guys I read all the things on the website but I meant like tables and ezups? Chairs? Can I take my own clay thrower and use it where I'm using my other guns. What would be good target's?

The regular ranges depend on what you shoot. There is a rifle range, a handgun range which have benches.
There is also a shotgun range.
You can bring a target, or rent them there $2.
As to the other stuff, ezup, table, chairs, the time for that would be the Cal Guns private range.
There each one sets up whatever they want. Table, tent, etc. And again you can bring targets or rent them.
You can also go out and reconnoiter the place. Alone or with the family. With or without shooting.
More than once I have gone to a shooting range, didn't like what I saw, and left.
As to Burro, I only go with Cal Guns on the private range.

Thank you for the information. What do you think good targets would be good to take other than paper targets were already taking?

nothing really if you will be on the general firing line.

too many times i hear of stories where other people on the line will shoot these better targets right off the bat when line is hot. save the extra stuff for private range. just use the standard paper stuff for the public shooting area.

Did Burro ever allow magnetic ammo during the last wet season?

I would also endorse a CG private range event as a good first time to shoot at Burro. While my other non CG experiences there have been mostly positive, I have seen quite a bit of buffoonery on the public ranges. Such as people who are kitted out with EBR's and tactical gear, but who are devoid of any safe gun handling habits or training or common sense (i.e. muzzling people or the compulsion to dick around with their rifles during cold lines). Lots of gangster types with their .22's and .380's and tactical Raiders hats too.

Take sandbags it gets windy, oranges, watermelons, clays, don't shoot rocks. Not crowded during week. You can shoot or buy bowling pins, rifle range 100 yrds out or more.

I went one day during rain this year and asked about it, wasn't crowded at all and they would have let me but all I had was steel core surplus and that is still a no no.

During the week I find it pretty tame at Burro, weekend can get a few nut jobs, rarely go on weekends because mostly you get numbnuts that will shoot across lanes and wipe out your pvc or their targets blow over and help themselves to yours, now that sucks. Bangers, meh, they don't bother me and it's fairly rare to encounter them.

1.) If a magnet sticks to it, you can't shoot it.
2.) Shoot under a canopy, tree, or else bring a nice big hat and sunscreen. And water. Lots of water.
3.) Be extremely cautious and safe handling.
                        4.)

Yes you can bring your own clay thrower. Just a reminder, you cant use soda cans or empty water bottles as targets. Have fun shooting!

Never follow the advice of Calguns Addicts,
They clearly don't know what they are talking about.
