    Place to shoot.

    Hello all,
I live in Lancaster and work at Edwards AFB. I was looking for a good place to shoot out here without having to worry about about it being leagl. Any suggestions out there?

    Thanks

If you cross over into San Bernardino Co. from Edwards, legal target shooting area is north of Hwy 58. Check the map in my signature line.

Wherever you go, stay out of the canyons north of Rosamond. They are COMPLETELY thrashed by shooters. Totally filled with spent shot shells and trash that people have shot at.

I really wish people would clean up after themselves.

I agree I know what area you are talking about. i have been there before and have seen first hand how people screw it up. I belive last time I was there someone had hauled a washing machine to shoot at!! Its that kind of folks that ruin it for the rest of us that clean up our trash and leave it better than it was when we got there.

Thanks for the information! There's always one (or in this case, many) that wanna ruin it for others. I'm a firm believer in hauling out what you brought in. CLEAN IT UP FOR THE NEXT SHOOTERS!! Can't wait to break in my first shotgun...pick it up from jail on the 22nd!!

Isn't the gun club still open to employees and military? We used to hold field trials at Edwards pre-9/11 and were also able to use the small arms ranges if there was no military training going on.

                  Being north of
70 has definite advantages: I was able to do all my stupid stuff before video cameras, smartphones, utube, and the internet.

There are a few spots north of rosemond, but may not be open anymore. The last time I was there, some guy brought out a cannon. While I am not a fan of the proprietors or the establishment, there is a small indoor range at the Gun Shop in Lancaster. If you Are down for a drive, there is also an outdoor range in sanfriscito canyon called A Place to Shoot.

EDIT - north spots apparently already covered.
