Can anyone give an exact location to shoot my Saiga BLM? I know there are maps but, unfortunately, I'm not very smart and would probably screw something up. I live in Orange County.

Hope we don't get the old
speech. Somewhere withing 30 miles of OC would be nice. Burro is far enough that it requires a whole day event.

If you consider Burro an all-day event, then that's pretty much what you're stuck with in OC or LA counties.
Keep in mind that though a map may show an area as BLM, county regulations override the "okay to shoot" rules.
AFAIK, there is no BLM land in OC or LA counties that is legal for target shooting. Some areas are open for hunting... but that would be down in Cleveland NF along the Ortega Hwy.
A trip to Angeles or Burro would be more convenient.- Rich

Lots of us have been barrel swept or shot at by people who didn't know what a backstop is and don't want it to happen again. If you can't read a map or follow directions, No experienced shooter will tell you where to go... Shooting, That is...Comment

Not BLM but if you want to shoot your rifle, you can go to On Target in Laguna Niguel. Indoor firing range 25 yards, however you will need to show proficiency and get a rifle permit. Iron sights in Oceanside. indoor and 25 yards also. at Irons sights you dont need a rifle permit.Comment

I was actually at Burro this past weekend. Certainly not too far. I'm just curious where I can shoot blm, bring some friends, and relax with out 129 others firing away... I know there are some secret spot that no one would want to divulge... no sweat - just hoping for a cool spot.Comment

Not in or near OC.
Most of the "secret spots" are out around Barstow and Indio. My own "secret spot" is even further down.... not far north of Brawley! I'm sure there's some places northwest of LA, but I'm not aware of any.
Sadly, Angeles and Cleveland National Forests are pretty much off-limits to target shooting, even though some areas are open for hunting.
Further east, as I mentioned before, Riverside County has a general prohibition on target shooting pretty much anywhere this side of Hemet.
San Diego County is less restrictive, but again, the problem is where... you've got incorporated cities, unincorporated county areas that are populated with shooting restrictions, Cleveland, and Camp Pendleton.
You're looking at the Mt Palomar area before you're getting close to any areas where target shooting is permitted.- Rich
