    Went to Burro Canyon today

There were 6 of us and two of the guys brought their 10 year old sons for a total of 7. We had a private range.

    We had with us...

    1 Sig 226 9mm pistol
    2 Beretta 9mm pistols
    1 Sig 229 .40 pistol
    1 Remington 870 12 guage
    1 Mossberg 590 12 guage
1 Old antique autoloading 12 guage..I was almost afraid to shoot this one.
    1 Ruger 10/22 .22 rifle
1 Marlin 775? I think that was the model. .22 rifle
    1 SKS 7.62x39 rifle
    1 Remington 700 .30-06 bolt action rifle

We all had a good time and a good experience. The range folks checked on us a couple of times and were really nice. They didn't hassle us at all. They just checked to make sure we weren't firing any steel core ammo....actually, he didn't even really check, he just asked us. He kind of frowned the second time he came around because we had an old viewsonic monitor about 60 yards out that we were blowing apart. I told him we'd immediately remove it from the range and pick up every bit of the glass, which we did.

I recommend this place highly if you're going to get a private range. I can't speak for the controlled walk on range as I've never used it there.

-Dimitri, I'm sorry they're jamming your radar and flying so low, but they're trained to do it. You know, it's, it's initiative!-

Fruits, veggies, and water bottles are good with them.

We've bought out soda cans and the range people reminded us to pick them up after we were done with the range.

No, technically you are not allowed to shoot monitors. The guy didn't yell at us though, he just frowned when I told him what it was. I got the message and told him we'd clear it off the range immediately. He just said thanks and drove away. He never even came back to see if we'd actually done it. They weren't Nazi's there, just safe and professional.

Oh...and I'm too lazy to get the pictures off of my camera right now. It was hot there and it sucked the energy out of me.

If you get a private range there, remember to bring an EZ-up or some other kind of shade, there isn't any there. We had one but we could have used two.

              That's because they are....

Being a national forest and all, Burro Canyon staff will frown on customers doing this.

Yup. I agree. That's why we made sure that we cleaned every last piece up. We even scraped the dirt where the pieces were to make sure we got it all. When we left, the range was cleaner than when we got there.

I was also at the Burro on Sunday the 18th. I however wasnt on a private range, and I think next time I will bring some friends and get one. The regular range is good, but for what I really wanted to do it just would have taken all day. They shoot in 30min stints then they call a "cease fire" so you can change your target or move your target. I brought my newly purchased M1 Garand, 2 91/30 Nagants, 2 SA XD's both .45ACP, and a Mossberg 500. I wanted to sight in my M1, but I couldnt see waiting 25 minutes after I shot a few rounds then check my target...repeat several times. I blame myself though I should have brought my spotting scope, but it was my first time and didnt know what to expect. So I shot off 6 enblocs and moved on.

This thread doesn't need pics. It's about my eperience with the range folks and the range itself. Pics of me shooting a monitor with a .30-06 aren't going to help!
