    North SF Bay mountain shoot

    Hey CGers,

I'll be going with a medium sized group of friends/acquaintances up to the Boggs Mountain State Demonstration Forest outside the town of Cobb in Lake County the first weekend in April. It has camp grounds and located at the back of the park is a somewhat small but pretty nice unregulated shooting range setup by the park service.

I've been there many times in the past, and there have always been other groups of shooters, but I never knew if I saw any fellow Calgunners or not. So come up and say Hi! I'll be up there all weekend.

For anyone who hasn't been there before, here is the exact location of the range inside the park on google maps:

And here is a park map:

See you guys up there (Hopefully)

I go there mostly for shooting, but the group I'll be going with goes primarily for airsofting in the surrounding area, which is very fun also given the dense woods.

            And welcome to Calguns!

Well, if you look on the google map and zoom in to the closest zoom level, you can see that it kind of looks like a baseball diamond, and is pretty much that size, I would say slightly larger.

To the bottom right of where the 'A' is centered is the back stop that has a few terraces cut into it for targets, but you can also set up targets further back onto that berm to extend the range. To the left of the 'A' is where the firing lines usually are, and I would guess that from the typical firing line we shoot from to where people typically have targets its about 75 yards. Though you could probably extend it to 100 yards or so by backing your targets up onto the hill.
Nothing there is measured so I can't give you definites, just my guesses based on how far I have to walk to setup new targets.

You take Highway 175 to get there, and turn into the park from the highway onto the US forestry service road.

It is indeed a dirt road but its not the kind of thing you need a 4x4 for.
It has to rain or snow Alot for the road to become untraversable; but this time of year you could take any vehicle at all on it.

When we go our vehicles get somewhat dusty, but thats about it.

Several of my friends have been there (ran reenactments)... I had always wanted to go, and after the reenactment, hit up the range!

Your friends are coming this time too Aaron

Mark is the one organizing this little trip, but he isn't a CGer so I posted the invite. You should come, it'll piss him off.

ETA: FYI, I've never been at an op you were at, so you have no clue who I am.
