    punks at the range

so last week i went down to On Target with my dad. It was his first time in well over 30 years shooting a gun. I was educating him on semi auto pistols and their function. I was showing him how to line the sights up and hold the pistol so our back were turned to my bag and targets behind us. I turned back around to grab a new target and it was gone.. I had just bought the 3pack On Target sells. So i looked over at the bay next to us and they (3 punks all black shirt tapout wanna be's) happen to only have ONE of the same. My 2 + 1 = 3 right. I also noticed they were renting guns. So they had to have been buying target as well.

So i acted like i was looking for my other target incase one of them wanted to give it back but that didnt happen. Now i am a pretty nice guy but stealing from me is unforgiveable in my eyes. needless to say i was a little pissed but, i kept my cool after accessing the situation and playing different outcomes i walked right over, grab the target, and walked back to my lane. Not a peep from them i did look back and catch one guy (prob the one that took it) lookin at me but he turned once we made eye contact. Nothing else became of that outing after that. I really wanted to

I guess I'm going to have to watch my ish a little closer even in the least likely place.

You should have mentioned it to the guys at the counter too. Someone who thinks nothing of pinching a target might just as easily walk off with other stuff.

They were only able to rent 1 gun at a time. I had my P220 and a rental 9mm so i guess i was more armed. That was the last place i was going to go at a range though. I would have been more than happy to step out side before we start blasting close quarters.

I try to follow the same routine whenever I visit the local indoor range. I set up my stuff in exactly the same way every time. Part of it is ritualistic, but part of it is practical in that I know where everything is supposed to be and can tell right away when it isn't.

When new shooters enter the range, I usually take a short break to check them out. If all seems right, I continue shooting. If I have a funny feeling, I'll leave the range to scope out the check-in area to see if they are members or not. (ID and member cards are clipped to a board corresponding to the lane.) If they are members, I can relax a little. If they aren't....

I try to be aware of who is shooting around me. I'm also listening to their conversations and their movements. (Good electronic hearing protection is a must.) Most of the folks at the range are nice people. I don't mind talking to them if they need a little help. I also offer to let them shoot my guns if they like.

I go to the range alone most of the time, and I have a bad habit of walking away from my stuff. Its an indoor range and for some reason I get stupid. Couple weeks ago I walked out to the loby to grab another box of ammo and through the glass i saw the guys in the next lane checking out my AR. They didnt pick it up, and I offered to let them fire it.

Stupid part is they could have stolen any number of items from my range bag without me seeing them. But I trust people.

Stealing at a shooting range is definitely a Darwin move.

Probably that he wouldn't have the balls to take it back because they figured they looked like bad aces.

Either that, or they just didn't realize that the target lying there belonged to someone.

Seriously. Stealing at a shooting range!?

You should have pistol whipped them dodos. (kidding mods)

If they would steal at a gun range, imagine what they are like on the street!

                          Seriously.
