    Hungry Valley 4x4 & shoot

Hey I'm planning on going to the Hungry Valley off road area off the 5 tomorrow. I called the Los Padres National Forest office and they said the forest is open to shooting.

Anyone want to go 4 wheeling and shooting?

Anyone know any good spots to go shooting out there?

I mainly just want to 4 wheeling in my truck but the girl I'm bringing wants to do some shooting so I figured why not bring some guns a long and see if we can find a place.

Better double-check with the rangers once you get to Hungry Valley. I don't believe it's legal to shoot in the off-road area, but the rangers there will/should be able to direct you to the appropriate area.

    Dress warm!

I don't believe you can actually shoot at Hungry Valley, but I'd ask the Rangers at the entrance. Maybe they can direct you to somewhere you can go. I personally wouldn't even try to shoot there. It's dangerous enough trying to avoid a collision with off roaders.

Have you been there? The place is way too crowded. It's full of off roaders on bikes, quads, or the bigger four wheel variety. I can say that every time that I've been there there was always emergency response vehicles responding to one emergency or another. You have to think defensively to get around Hungry Valley.

Hungry valley is a state park where there is no shooting allowed. It borders the national forest where shooting is allowed.

I talked to both the hungry valley office and the forest service today, its perfectly legal to drive from the park into the forest and shoot.

I have been there once before and know that it can be crowded and there is no shooting in the park. The last time I was there we did some serious damage to a lifted tahoe with 35s. This time I'm going to try and not twist any frames or crack control arms.

thanks for the tip on dressing warm, Its been nice lately but I'll bring the heavy jackets.
