    Coalinga .50-cal shoot

I got an email about a FCSA shoot at Coalinga on June 6-7, 2009.
    Anyone here going?

OF COURSE! A few of us may even get together for some 1000 yard trigger time over Christmas weekend. (12/27-28/08). We (CRC & FCSA members) got together last weekend to finish 11 new concrete shooting benches that look great. I do suggest pre-registration for the match. It sounds like it's going to be a big one and could fill up quickly. The last and most important thing is to thank 50BMGBOB and Dale for their work putting this whole match together. Oh, and also a big thank you to Joe for always being at the range and helping us out when we need it!

I encourage new shooters to bring their .50s and give it a try. I showed up to my first FCSA match after firing only 9 rounds through my gun and having never shot more than 100 yards! Now, 4 years and 8 matches later, I've shot some pretty good groups and even managed to get a couple of second and third place plaques. If I can do it, anyone can!

Now I need to save up and get a decent scope for my Viper. This is sounding like a lot of fun. I'll be in the Hunter class, shooting prone if I can get my act together before the match.

Real men shoot from the ground! But we built 11 cleaning benches for the range. Of course, most think that they are for shooting from. We should have a really good turn out. Looking forward to meeting you there.

            Are .50 DTC's welcome?

YES! DTCs can be shot in every class but "light gun" so, bring what you've got! The best thing is that juniors can shoot DTCs too!

Is this a FCSA sanctioned match (i.e. do we have to be a member to shoot?).

Price to register and all that stuff.

Yes, it is FCSA sanctioned. It will be $60 per class. You have to be a memeber of the FCSA, you can join at the match. You don't have to be a member of the CRC. Preregister is preferred as I expect to fill all the benches.

A few of us are getting together at the Coalinga range, for a little 1000 yard trigger time on 12/27-28/08. If anyone wants to join us, PM me ASAP so we can work out the arrangements. Anyone who is not a member will have the opportunity to join the club. This is not the match, just a little pratice time.

Last call. If anyone wants to have a little 1000 yard trigger time, with pit service (and do pit service), PM me tonight. I should be there by 11am or so. Again, this is not any kind of match, just a few CRC members getting together to have some fun. If you are in the area and want to shoot a 50BMG, stop by and talk to me. I'll be asking for a $10/round donation to Don's fund or CGF. If you can prove to me that you've already donated to either one, then just come out (with proof of your donation) and I'll let you send a round or two down range.

Well, almost everyone flaked. Only three of us showed up and except for one palma shooter, we had the range to ourselves. I played with a little load development. I couldn't get anything to work so, I set up my ALS and fired 2 fouling shots and five left over match rounds just to make sure it wasn't me.

I didn't have a tape with me but, the radio is 6 1/2" to the end of the antenna. Not my best group ever but, the rifle was still warming up. Since I'd been shooting my AR50 before this.

Here's a pic of the new benches:

Are there going to be future practice shoots? I would like to come out, if I can remind myself to read the thread.
