I was at Los Altos Rod and Gun with a couple friends and we were plinking at bottles 'n stuff on the 40 yard tin can range. It's been a while since I went shooting there last, and I was looking forward to spraying water all over the berm. We were the only ones on the range when we arrived, so we set up in the center stations.
We got through one firing session when a bunch of guys with shotguns and an AR showed up and laid out their stuff on the far right side. As the next firing session continued, I was wondeirng why our targets were going down so quickly. I mean, my friend and I are pretty good shots at that range (pistol, rifle, whatever), but we just weren't putting that many bullets downrange.
The next firing session, I set out a full 2 liter bottle, and as I was taking aim, the thing just exploded. A little annoyed (damn it, I wanted to explode that thing myself!) I looked at my friend, and he was loading mags. So if I didn't take the shot, and my friend didn't either? Who did?
As it turned out, the shotgunners next to us weren't just shooting up their targets, but they were shooting up our targets, and the targets [i]to our left[i]. I'm surprised that the rangemaster didn't say anything because they were shooting .223 at such a crazy angle across the range. Usually if make a target fly behind other peoples' targets, I just leave it alone and move it later. Isn't that common courtesy?
I actually feel more sorry for the people to our left, because it was a guy and his daughter plinking at cups with a 10/22. She'd take a couple shots, and then after a hail of shotgun blasts, her cups would be strewn across the berm.
SHOOT AT YOUR OWN DAMN TARGETS!
