Placer County Mini Clean Up & Shoot 5-11-13 *Post clean up report

see post #7 for post clean up report

    Hey Guys,
It's been a long time since I've been up to "the spot" off of Foresthill Road. Saturday May 11th (the only weekend I have this month), I plan to take a trip up there with my pick up, set up a pop-up canopy & table and do some shooting! Afterwards, I will pick up as much debris as possible, load it up in my truck, and dump it at the local transfer station. It will be free of charge since we are doing the county a favor.

Basically, I want to have a great time shooting, and leave the spot cleaner than when we came in. I'd like to get as many people out as I can, the more people we can get out and help clean up, the better it will be for our cause. If anyone has a pickup and would like to help, come on out.

This is NOT an official Calguns clean-up, however, I can loan you Calguns Safety Vests for the day. Read This first page to see what kind of tools and equipment people bring for the larger clean-ups.

Please post here if you'd like to come out, and send me a PM I can give you the exact meeting spot. I'd like to get there early Meet at 7:30AM, before others show up and make it difficult to set up and clean.

Any input would be great! Thanks!

              After Clean up Report!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Altahick, Bandit610, and Jester3 who came out on their own time, brought their own tools etc, and perspired for 6-1/2 hours shooting and cleaning in the heat. The place was trashed, and it's still in dire need of bigger help. However, I feel we made a significant impact on the spot. If you visited the Quarry today, you would think someone came in there and did some work... well HECK YEA! Imagine what a group of 15+ people would be able to do, plus the help of a trash bin and some trailers.

The forest service ranger came by early on during the day. Of course he browsed through our arsenal, then noticed all the Calguns vests we were sporting, and all the cleaning tools. He was very impressed by our cleanup efforts. Another thing great about the vests, is it deters others from trying to meet at our spot. Only one car with a family respectfully and safely shot in our spot, while maybe 6 other parties made a U-Turn when they saw a group of dudes in Orange Vests.

              See some pics below!

^ Littered with shells and garbage.

^ Notice there's almost no brass. People pick those up, ditch everything else.

^ Due to the mix of rocks on the ground, we decided not to use shovels, otherwise the garbage mixture would be 80% rocks in weight!

              ^ Our setup

I dont know when the next one is, but should be before fall comes. I will talk to the local C3s and plan something on a larger scale ahead of time. Thanks!

Well done guys! Keep it up, great work being done at all of the clean ups!

Prizes and BBQ seem to be a major attractant to get more participants (aside from the obvious benefit of doing a good deed ).
