Steele Peak Clean Up Successful (Pic Heavy)

This past Sunday (2/17) a small group of us fellow calgunners got together and did some range clean up on BLM land. It went very good thanks to everyone hard work and unselfish attitude. It was a beautiful day and it was crowded everywhere out there.Great Job to all who showed up and participated today:
    Oldfartdiehard
    Livetoride33
    Cliffv (+1)
    Jeepway
    Superduper2013

We need to do this again sometime soon and try to get a bigger group and a dumpster of some kind.

Filled up both my trashcans when I got home. That door was solid frame...had to bust out the sawzall.

Thanks for setting a great example!

I hope the shooters in the background noticed and cleaned up too.

I had to cut some of the larger 2x4s to fit in the trash can as well.

Thanks. I posted a large bright green sign on my truck saying "Calguns Range Clean Up. Plz feel free to join us"

No worries, I picked up some of the large pile of trash guys collected. I took as much as I could but my truck was packed. I will def let you know when the next clean up is and try to do some better planning next time too!

We should take the member with the large trailer up on his offer. he said if we got 10-15 of us to pitch in some cash for dump fee, he'd dump it for us. I'll pull the trailer in if needed...or my buddy has a 4x4 bigger version of my truck that I will bring. He wont have any bumper damage after some large hills

That sounds like a great idea. If needed we can get one of the spots closer to the road so they dont have to tow the trailer in too deep also(past 150 yds). All the areas need clean up out there

Yeah, I don't think a trailer is going to make it very far unless it has a pintle
and big tires. We'd have to make runs from the back to the street or just clean up
the 1st couple hundred yards...and maybe start early.

chknlyps2 had organized the "official" Calguns clean ups in the past and we have had the dumpster out there. He worked with the BLM office to obtain the dumpster. The reason there has not been another one with the dumpster is the BLM local office doesn't have the budget for one at this time.

He mentioned in the prior stickied Steele Peak thread about this and trying to work out something else with someone that might be able to donate some large trucks. He will post when and if that works out I am sure.

In the meantime, group organized ones on the pickup level like you guys did, will be the only way to get things cleaned up. You all did an excellent job!

One quesiton; were any of the "Calguns Clean up" signs still standing or have they all been shot up. Eat Dirt made those at his expense and put them up there at the first one coordinated with the BLM office.

                          Retired,

There is still a small "Cleaned by Calguns" sign on the post of the big "BLM Land" shooting rules sign at the entrance.

Thats the only one I have seen in my few adventures out there.

Good job guys! Things are in the works for a larger event around April-May

retired, I was there about 5 weeks ago and both of Eat Dirts signs were still there, the one on the 4x4 post when you drive in and the other was about 150 yards in on the left.

I suggest March/April because of the heat in May and less people would be up to helping when it is 90f+ . Howeve, whatever date is chosen I will do my best do be there!
