    Cherry Creek

Just came back from Patagonia HQ here in Ventura. Looks like they have organized a clean up of the cherry creek area for Oct 29 2011. Of course they are looking for warm bodies. I won't be able to make it, but some of you might. It would make us look good with the general public.

Just read the blog entry. Shooters have to be responsible. Pack it in, pack it out and don't bring TV's to shoot or other trash.

Back in the 80's, Rose Valley was a mess. Looks much better now.

So is Cheery Creek still closed? Did the Enviro-Cats slam the door on that place? I loved it there.

Is there any legal area in the Los Padres NF to shoot anymore? I agree, I used to belong to the OVGC and drove through Rose Valley to get to the range, it was a war zone, junk, shell casings everywhere. It is a shame that the few inconsiderate litterbug shooters screw it up for the rest of us who pack out what we pack in.

Need a legal place to shoot up there, any suggestions? The OVGC is expensive and a lot of rules for someone who just wants to take his son plinking with his .22. Love the club and the members, just too much involvement needed to join and keep up.

Hell I bring a TV all the time, for my son to play XBox when he gets tired of shooting!

It sickens me that people will do **** like that. I shoot paper, steel targets, and lots of fruit and vegies.

I thought this was Cherry Creek in Northern California and would have helped in a heatbeat.

Cherry creek is closed indefinitely pending an environmental impact study related to steelhead. The creek is completely dry and has been for years, so expect that until it rains good and heavy it will be closed regardless, and may be closed permanently if the impact review is negative.
