    E. Camino Cielo Glass Factory RANGE CLEAN UP! JOIN US!

Myself and a buddy recently stopped at "The Glass Factory" on E. Camino Cielo off Highway 154 for our first time. What a great place! However... it was extremely dirty, IMO. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of a range like that and would like to be able to continue the trek down there in the future - but am worried that if the ranges dont stay clean we may lose our access to them.

Who would be interested in meeting out there on a Saturday or Sunday and spending an hour or two doing doing some clean up, then some shooting?

I was thinking Saturday, January 30th. Does that work for people? I think if we can get at least 10 or 15 people together we can get that whole place spotless.

DIRECTIONS TO THE RANGE: (Edit Point A to your start location): http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=sa...076.4458&hl=en

Its an hour and a half drive for myself, so no excuses for people! Carpool, whatever! If anyone more local has access to a trailer or at least a truckbed to haul out trashbags full of brass/trash/whatever, that would be great. I can bring tons of trashbags along with a handful of hand tools Itd be great if all could bring a shovel and/or rake along with a few trashbags. Truck/trailer space would be great for the few shot up TVs, an old propane tank, sheet of plywood, etc.

Not sure what other ideas the group could come up with, but Im sure they would be good ones. Whos in, and does that date work for you?

I want to help keep E. Camino Cielo Glass Factory Range Open!:

      I'm in...

      1. How are we going to time it so that no other shooters from outside the group don't get shafted because we're down range with rakes and shovels for hours?

      2. Where are we going to dump the trash when we trek it down the mountain?

        Thanks Hopi!

Well, this would be 3 Saturdays from now. If these crazy rains stop for next weekend, I was thinking of maybe going out Sunday and posting a few signs that there would be an upcoming range cleanup, open to the public etc etc.

I am going to contact the FS and see if they have a roll off dumpster or place on site where we can dispose of the garbage - otherwise I will bring a 20ft. trailer and haul it back north to San Luis Obispo and to the dump if no one else can do it more locally.

Thanks for the input! WHO ELSE?

Just an FYI, the Appleseed shoot for Santa Barbara is the same weekend as your scheduled weekend, so a lot of us Calgunners (including me) would be preoccupied with this event.

I would probably be down for helping if it's on another weekend, but that all depends on midterms for me (UCSB student).

I'm in. I might be able to bring a truck in order to do a 'dump run' afterwards.

Nice to see this happening. Can't make it myself, but will try to get a few of my friends in the area to come out. Can you CGNers show them what we're all about?

Count me in! Im a 25min drive from there. I take a bit out with me everytime i go, but it gets a ton of use.

                            GREAT!

I was thinking we meet at 9am on Saturday, Jan 30th. That will give anyone who has a bit of a drive (LIKE ME! Hour and a half) ample time to get there.

When I was there last weekend, there were about 25 of us on the range, and all it took was a new guy to come up to us and say Hey, mind if we stop for a minute so we can place some targets?

It went on down the line, everyone stopped shooting, ear protection off, lots of verbal confirmations and then everyone went out for about 15 minutes. Once people realized no one was down range, lots more verbal confirmation everyone was ready and we commenced.

I think if we put in about 2 solid hours with 10+ guys - that place would be spotless!

Then, do some shooting and general BSing, clean up our little mess we made and head out!

When I have some time possibly today Id like to come up with a few sentences I could print up on a couple signs to take out there to post this weekend - letting people know of the range cleanup next weekend, and to come and join!

Also this would let people know that perhaps there wouldnt be shooting going on for a couple of hours that morning. I dont think it would be an issue.

                            Thoughts everyone?
