    BLM Shooting Near Pismo Beach

    Hey guys,

A few of my friends are doing a bachelor party near the pismo beach area and wanted to go shooting.

Since i am from San Diego i am unfamiliar with where to shoot in the area.

Is there BLM land we can use or is it mostly in door/outdoor private ranges?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Los Padres is open for target shooting right now ( http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/lpnf/h...stelprd3825115 ). They're pretty picky about the fire restrictions though, so make sure you check the site or with a ranger before you go. There are some decent 4x4 trails out there too if you have a truck or two going with you.

      Thanks Seany!

After google mapping it, it looks like it is 3 hours away from pismo beach. Are there any other national forests or blm land closer?

      Or perhaps an outdoor range?

outdoor range? That would be SLOSA in san luis Obispo. 15 minute drive (maybe 30 from Pismo) and targets out to 700 yards if you want. covered if it rains. If you are there on a Tuesday, you'll want to stop by the frog and peach for a pint or seven. Thursday, the farmers market at night. Weekend, I dunno what night life is best, we were always in the woods.

dunno about that, but the faultline (pozo caves) are some of the most amazing California wilderness I've been to. It's a must-see place IMO.

SLOSA is a very nice range, not like anything we have here in the bay area. Beyond what Whiterabbit mentioned on long distance targets, there is a lot of steel at varied distances for pistol or rifle and you can rapid fire. Friday night they are also open through 9pm.
